Who is it for?

  • For the clients
  • For a job
  • To show off
  • A way tutors can access your work and give feedback
  • To convey your enthusiasm
  • Building a reputation

Who are you talking to?

  • A particular audience?
  • A niche market?

QUESTIONS

  • Who am I?
  • How can I help you?
  • How do I get there?
  • Why can you trust me? – Testimonies
  • What do we share in common?

As an example of a stand out portfolio we where show Robby Leonardi’s one – http://www.rleonardi.com/interactive-resume/

This unique portfolio allows you control the character by using the scroll in order to move through the sections of his portfolio.

This is a prime example of showing off your talent.

Does/Don’t for a online portfolio

  • Not for experimental work(maybe have a link to your blog for that)
  • Making false claims/Lies
  • Can’t have anything half finished(including the site itself)
  • Have a responsive website that works on both computer and phone
  • Be careful of links to social media e.g.if your ranting on twitter its probably not the best idea to have it on your portfolio
  • Dead sites(either websites that don’t work or are “Coming soon”)
  • Easy to navigate
  • Up to date
  • Flash is apparently shit
  • Have your own domain(professional)

Tips

  • Find your niche
  • Be sociable(social networks)
  • Spell Check
  • Contact details
  • Everything is up to date
  • Be professional

Rules of writing

  • Use short sentences
  • Use vigorous english
  • Be positive

Few websites we looked at

  • Square Space
  • Wix
  • Behance
  • Format
  • awwwards
  • Portfolio box
  • Photoshelter
  • Bunker
  • 500px
  • Dribbble

I know that I need to sort my portfolio out! It was the reason I wasn’t able to get work experience over easter but I can turn that around.
